NEW WORK SCHEDULE HAS A DRAMATIC EFFECT ON MANAGER'S HEALTH
Symptoms of Bell's Palsy and Diabetes Greatly Reduced

Tucson, AZ - Mike Morales has always been a hard worker. He worked for a national tire chain as a store manager for the last 16 years, and was at work five to six days a week for 10-12 hours a day. A year after making store manager with the national tire chain, Morales went in diabetic shock and spent three days in Intensive Care. That was in 1998 when he was 27 years old. From that point on, his blood sugar levels were regulated by two to three self-administered insulin shots per day. Seven months ago, Morales woke up to find his face was paralyzed, and he discovered he had contracted Bell's Palsy, a disease characterized by paralysis and loss of facial control.

In June 2004, Truxxx Manufacturing lured him away from his career in the retail tire industry with something they could not offer - a four day work week. Truxxx Manufacturing was looking for an Operations Manager who understood the tire and wheel industry and could complement their line of lift kits for pickup trucks. Mike Morales accepted the challenge and discovered an unexpected side effect. "I can whistle!" Morales said after being with the company two weeks "With the Bell's Palsy I haven't been able to whistle in months." Other noticeable effects of the work schedule change include a massive reduction in insulin usage (only one shot in two months), and a more relaxed home life. "He is much more patient with our kids - not as stressed out" said his wife Renee. "I love that every weekend is a long weekend, I can spend so much more time with the kids, riding quads and going to Rocky Point in Mexico" said Mike.

"Our schedule is a conventional 40 hour work week - we just pack it into 4 days instead of 5" said Greg Pilling, president of Truxxx Manufacturing. "We needed someone with Mike's knowledge and work ethic to help drive our product through the retail tire channel - so we offered the best incentive we could". While he admits that the health benefits were an unexpected bonus, he did feel that it was important to let employees recharge their emotional batteries. "Every corporation claims that their employees are their number one asset - and then they run the employees into the ground. We vowed not to do that when we started Truxxx".
